Emergency First Aid at Work: 1 day course

​This qualification is designed for individuals working in low-risk environments who want to become appointed persons responsible for first aid arrangements. Participants will learn how to manage first aid equipment and facilities, as well as when to call Emergency Medical Services. Upon completion, candidates will be equipped provide basic first aid in various emergency situations. This training empowers them to respond confidently and effectively when it matters most.

Medication - Care at Home

On this half day course designed to explain the roles and boundaries of assisting people with their medication and ensure you practice safe administration, we explore the following:​

  • Consent

  • Types of medication

  • Routes

  • Classification 

  • Side effects/allergic reactions

  • Contra-indications

  • MAR charts

  • Reporting problems

  • Levels of need

Moving and Assisting - People

Our most popular course, on this full day course you will learn:

  • Manual handling theory

  • Manual handling of inanimate objects

Practical sessions on:​

  • Walking/falling person.

  • Chairs and bed work

  • Hoists

Our purpose designed training room offers learners the opportunity to practice techniques with a wide range of equipment including a tracking/ceiling hoist.

This course is registered with the Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme

Behaviours that Challenge

On this one day course designed to assist staff in understanding why the people they support might engage in behaviours that are challenging and to explore ways of reducing the incidents that may lead to staff distress and absences.

  • Triggers and responses monitoring.

  • Support plans/risk assessments.

  • Recognising warning signs

Protection

Public Protection & Trauma Informed Practice

Adult Support & Protection, Child Protection and Trauma Informed Practice.

This half-day course covers all of the protection issues and trauma informed practice content that is an annual Continuous Professional Learning requirement of everyone registered with the SSSC as a social care worker in Scotland.

We are a Qualifications Approved Centre and we are committed to providing you with comprehensive support throughout your course. You will have a dedicated assessor who will be your main point of contact, guiding you in building your portfolio of evidence to showcase your knowledge and skills. During your induction meeting your assessor will discuss the course requirements, outline the necessary steps, and provide an induction booklet for additional guidance. We here to ensure you maximise your vocational training, and that you identify your strengths and areas for improvement along the way.
